to the L'île d'Oléron.
Evening meal in the town of Chateau d’Oleron (restaurant TBA) (appx 15/20 minutes walk)

Steam train excursion: Join the train at the town of Le Tremblade and travel through the countryside to the town of Saujon. Free time for a wander and a spot of lunch before returning by coach to the campsite.

Puy du Fou Aire (to be paid locally) 13th June, 3 nights

3 day passes to the Grand Parc and Cinéscénie included.
 

Puy du Fou is France's best kept secret, if you have never heard of this incredable place before please visit https://www.puydufou.com/fr (The club held a similar rally a couple of years ago and following demand by members to repeat the rally it is being run again. Members said the highlight of the entire trip was the Puy du Fou visit. It's amazing!)

 

Travel with P&O Ferries:

Dover to Calais: Any time during the day
Calais to Dover: Any time during the day
Alternative travel can be organised with Euro Tunnel or Brittany Ferries for a supplement.

Monday 24th August to Sunday 13th September

 

Boats, Bikes, Beer and Chocolate!  (What’s not to like!)   During this rally we explore in Belgium and Holland, visiting their lesser known gems.  We will experience waterways, see how they function plus many opportunities to enjoy well known beers, chocolates and cycle on dedicated paths.

  • Dinant, Belgium at Camping Communal De Devant Bouvignes (7 nights). We will have time to see this beautiful riverside town, which is the home of the Saxophone and Leffe Beer. Just a short bus or train ride away is the historic town of Namur with its castle, old quarter and museums.
  • Valkenburg, Holland at Camping Den Dreisch

(7 nights). We will have time here to enjoy this famous and lively town which boasts a toboggan run for the adventurous and a spa for those who wish to relax plus castle ruins for any historians!A bus ride or cycle ride away is Maastricht, famous for its Medieval Centre, Andre Rieu and Bisschopsmolen, the oldest working water mill in Holland.

  • Ghent, Belgium at Camping Blaarmeersen (6 nights). From the camp site there is a free shuttle bus into town.  Visit St Bavo’s Cathedral, the Castle of the Counts and the Great Butchers Hall.  After dusk the main buildings within the town are artistically illuminated.

Guide price includes:

  • 20 nights on campsites
  • Dinant Citadel visit and Boat trip
  • From Dinant, a Coach excursion to the Strepy Thieu boat lift, (boat trip included) followed by a visit to the Incline Plane of Ronquières and museum.
  • Evening meal in the restaurant of Daelhemerger
  • Guided train tour of “Gemeentegrot Cave Experience” in Valkenburg
  • Guided boat tour of the ‘Highlights of the historic Ghent’
  • Coach trip to Bruges including  guided tours and tastings at the Choco House and the De Halve Maan Brewery
  • Farewell meal in Ghent
  • Return Ferry crossing from Dover to Calais
  • Rally fee of £20 per unit.

All the campsites have cycle paths nearby and access to local buses for those who don’t cycle.  There will be plenty of opportunities at each location for informal gatherings (weather permitting) also time to explore at your own pace making this a truly interesting and relaxing holiday.

Important Notes:  During the brewery guided tour in Bruges, there are 220 steps, some are steep.

Dogs are not allowed on the coach trips.

Places on the rally will be on a first come first served basis via direct contact on or after the 28th December 2019 to the rally stewards (See Rally Book).

Once you are confirmed with the rally stewards, please send them your ATOC rally slip, with full contact details, including email and your address.  Your details will be passed to Alan Rogers (Rally Services) who will then send you an official booking contract for you to complete and under their Terms & Conditions will request a deposit of £150.

Organised excursion

Depart by coach to the traditional village of Makrinitsa where you can spend a couple of hours wandering through the cobbled streets or stop for a coffee in one of the tavernas or cafes in the tree lined square. Re-join the coach and continue to the village of Portaria, where you can walk the Centaur’s Path, followed by a meal at the Hotel Krista in the village.

 

The Centaur’s Path is a footpath through lush woodland alongside a stream. Please ensure you wear suitable footwear. The 2.8km walk isn’t challenging, with plenty of benches along the way if you would like a rest. You’ll also find plenty of photo opportunities!
