Rally Name           CENTRAL GERMANY AND PRAGUE TOUR

Location                6 locations in Central Germany and the Czech Republic. The total distance covered by the tour over 22 days is just over 700 miles, depending on your personal travel itineraries.

Start                     Thursday 23rd May after 2 pm

Finish                   Friday 14th June before 11 am

Information            This tour of Central Germany and the Czech Republic will visit some of the most scenic and historic parts of Europe that you will probably not have visited before. Although none of these sites are coastal, they all prominently feature rivers and lakes, as well as some beautiful mountain scenery.
We start the tour in the Eifel National Park (3 nights), on the border of Luxembourg and Germany, just 318 miles from Calais, visiting Lake Rursee for a leisurely boat trip.
Then travel east to Bamberg (3 nights), one of Europe’s largest intact old town centres, a UNESCO world heritage site. It is also the home of the largest concentration of small breweries and bierkellers in Germany.
The next stop is east again to Pilsen (5 nights), the gateway to Sumava in the Czech Republic. Whilst here, we will explore the old town of Pilzen, including Republic Square, one of the largest in Europe.
The next site is situated close to Prague (4 nights), with easy access to the city by bus or underground transport. During your stay here, we will take an early evening coach tour through Prague followed by a folklore evening and dinner. The following day enjoy a visit to Castle Karlstejn, one of the most spectacular castles in the Czech Republic.
We return to Germany for our next site near Dresden (4 nights), located next to a lake. This period is a National holiday in Germany and we have had to pay high season rates to secure pitches here. There will be a bus tour to Dresden with opportunities for individual exploration of the city. The next day we have arranged a boat trip on the river Elbe, followed by a visit to Castle Pilnitz.
Finally, we head west for our last destination at Hohenfelden, near Erfurt (3 nights). The city of Erfurt has a charming old quarter, which has preserved much of its original medieval structure. WHY NOT FOLLOW ON TO THE MIDSUMMER MOTORHOME SHOW, NEWBURY?

Rally Name           HARZ MOUNTAINS TOUR, GERMANY

Location                Located in Central Germany, staying at five locations, with a total distance of 100 miles in 20 nights. The Harz Mountains is the land of German fairy tales, steep-roofed houses with tiny windows and narrow, cobblestone streets, dark forests, rushing streams and stormy mountains.

Start                     Saturday 15th June, after 2 pm

Finish                   Friday 5th July, before 11 am

Information            The start point for this rally is 430 miles east of Calais or roughly 100 miles north of the finish of the Prague tour at Erfurt.
The first stop is at Oserade am Harz (4 nights), near the Soese reservoir, in an idyllic woodland setting. There is a welcome breakfast arranged for your first morning on site. Since we are in a Natural Park zone, it seems appropriate to visit a local bird sanctuary with an English-speaking guide who will accompany you on a short trail through the forest, where you can see local wildlife in a peaceful setting.
The next stop is in Goslar (4 nights), with an indoor swimming pool. At this site an excursion has been planned to take you to the top of the Brocken, the highest point in the Harz mountains, at 1,141metres. The train trip will excite all railway enthusiasts as you ascend to the summit. The following day is a visit to a World Heritage mine, featuring a unique water system.
We then travel south-east to Thale (4 nights), close to the river Bode, for the next site, which has received many recent awards for the standard of its facilities. Whist you are at there you will have the opportunity to visit Quedlingburg, a UNESCO World heritage site and walled town. Thanks to the extraordinarily large number of half-timbered houses (over 1,300), it’s a fantastic example of an unchanged and relatively undiscovered medieval town, which is utterly charming. The following day is an excursion on the Bode valley Cable car.
It‘s a short distance to the next site at Walkenreid (4nights), close to a local supermarket, and with a good heated indoor pool. The next day a visit to a thermal spa will relax all, followed by a meal in the campsite restaurant.
The final site is at Braunlage (4 nights), offering excellent hospitality and a 3-course farewell meal.
All sites on this tour charge for electricity by metered consumption, paid locally, and credit cards are NOT widely accepted, requiring payment in cash.
Included in the price is return ferry travel with P&O from Dover to Calais, but other crossings may be selected with a small additional cost. For a more detailed, Alan Rogers itinerary, contact us with your email address and we will send a copy.
